Carp On The Fly - Connecticut

Carp On The Fly - Connecticut

Catching Carp On The Fly is EPIC! It helps to hire a guide! As the water temps are cooling Carp are definitely getting more aggressive and eating well. This fish took about 6 minutes to land on a 7 wt, ripped across the river twice.

Fishing is on the verge of really picking up again here in Connecticut. With the cool air temperatures in the 10 day forecast, things are going to get fun! Reach out anytime for a guided fishing trip here in Connecticut.

Carp on the Fly! Mid Summer!

Carp on the Fly! Mid Summer!

Here we are in the heat of July, and boy is it hot some days. Water temps are well over 75 and a little dangerous for the fish. PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE! Get them in the water asap and handle quickly. Flows on the rivers have come way down and starting to fish for Carp on the Fly. If you have any questions or want to chat, reach out anytime! Happy Summer! - Pogo

Pike Pike Pike

Pike Pike Pike

38 degree water temps and the fish were active during bite window. A slow retrieve seems to do the trick. Water levels are still high in the rivers, the ground just can’t absorb any more water. Hopefully mother nature gives us a few more weeks. Tight lines!

Why Knot Fishing & SVS Fishing Podcast

Why Knot Fishing & SVS Fishing Podcast

Last week I attended and sponsored a 1/2 day guided trip to support our Veterans at a Why Knot Fishing Event in CT. It was a great time for a great cause!

This Sunday, December 2nd, I will be a guest on the SVS Fishing Podcast, we will be talking musky, pike, and guiding topics. I can’t wait! Here is a link to their website: https://svsfishing.podbean.com/ They have had some great guests on over the years, a ton of info.

Now lets talk fishing quick, the Housy here locally has been fishing well for trout, despite the constant up and down flows. A friend got into 15 fish last week. There is a solid window this weekend through Monday. Going to get out and pike fish and guide. Air temps look good and flows should drop by then, no major rain in the forecast. As the kids say, Tight Lines!

Carp On The Fly

The journey continues.... 3 seasons ago I started site fishing for Carp on the fly. The desire to learn techniques and the most I can about such an amazing species has been burning inside me. Last weekend I was able to get out and do some exploring and June heats up, The water is on the low side, clear for the most part, and if you know where to find them in the river, they are doing their thing. Carp amaze me, to just sit and watch them act natural is special. They are so social with each other, very aware, and flat out smart, especially when you try to get too close to cast at them. That is a whole other can of worms.

Next season I am going to start to offer guide trips for Carp on the fly. I am excited to share this passion with my friends and guests on the water. There are plenty of YouTube videos and groups online to join to learn as much as you can. However, there is nothing better than on the water experience, The fish in the picture, is very special. It took me over 30 minutes to get him to eat and 5 minutes to bring to the net and get the pleasure to have my photo taken with him, or her.
